Manoir du Cedre with Pool - near Monsegur & St. Emilion, S. W. France
|
|
Ideal for families and friends, Le Manoir du Cedre is a charming estate with three properties that
can comfortably accommodate up to a maximum of 13 guests plus two babies in cots. The adaptable accommodation allows a large parties greater privacy than all staying under one roof, as there are two self-contained cottages in the one-acre grounds and two beautiful en-suite bedrooms situated in the private wing of the owner's 17th century Manoir.
Le Manoir du Cedre is situated in Aquitaine, in St. Martin du Puy, on the edge of the smallest
commune in France, Castelmoron d'Albret. Castelmoron is a pretty, well preserved historic village with a bar/restaurant, general convenience shop and, for chocoholics, a shop selling homemade chocolates. These are all within a short walking distance.
Le Manoir du Cedre accommodates two to five guests in two attractive comfortable and spacious
en-suite bedrooms. These rooms are reached by a steep staircase so are not suitable for guests with disabilities. Guests' staying in the Rose and Lavender rooms have their own private covered balcony dining terrace looking out over the courtyard towards the two cottages and the gardens.
The first cottage, Petit d'Albret, is a charming well-equipped two-bedroom centrally heated gîte,
ideal for two to four guests plus a baby in a cot. A fifth guest under the age of 10 years can be accommodated in a Z-bed.
The other cottage, Les Vignes, is a pretty two-bedroom centrally heated gîte and is designed for
two to four guests plus a baby in a cot. The accommodation is ideal for people with walking difficulties as all the accommodation is on the ground floor. The cottage is well maintained and has private dining and sunbathing terraces.
Bed linen, bath and pool towels are provided free of charge, and will be changed on a weekly basis.
On arrival, clients staying in the cottages will receive a welcome pack of groceries and drinks - with the owner's compliments. |

For further information and photographs on Les Vignes and Petit d'Albret cottages, please view each
property's individual page on this website.
In Le Manoir du Cedre there are two beautifully furnished large en-suite bedrooms available for guests'
staying with friends or family who have booked both Les Vignes and Petit d'Albret gîtes. Guests' using these rooms have their own private entrance door to this side of the Manoir, but should be aware that the staircase from the hall leading to the rooms is steep and not suitable for people with walking difficulties or disabilities. At the top of the stairs is the guest sitting room with a sofa and three easy chairs. Here you will find a selection of magazines plus a guest fridge. From this room a few more steps lead up to the two attractive bedrooms, both of which have original beamed ceilings and chandelier style central lights. Fresh linen and towels are supplied on a weekly basis.
Guests staying in the Rose and Lavender rooms have their own private covered dining terrace looking
out over the courtyard towards the two cottages and the gardens. Breakfast can be provided on request by Jane, the estate owner, and paid for locally. Otherwise guests can join their friends and family for self-catered meals at Petit d'Albret.
Rose Room
This spacious and pretty bedroom is furnished with French antique furniture - twin sleigh beds both of
which are 4' wide, a wardrobe, cabinet and two marble topped bedside tables and bedside lamps. There is also an ornamental bistro style dining table with two chairs. Electric fan. The Rose Room has a large en-suite shower room with a w.c. and wash hand basin.
Lavender Room
This attractive, large 'L' shaped room has a 5' wide double bed plus a day bed/sofa. A Z-bed for a child
of up to 10 years can also be added to this room to sleep four, two adults and two children. The Lavender Room has an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a separate shower enclosure, w.c., wash hand basin and a marble topped antique washstand.
Grounds:
The grounds are fully hedged and fenced, with the main entrance to the estate via a pair of tall metal
gates. The driveway leads to delightful shared grounds of one acre with roses, lavender, clematis, fruit and walnut trees (guests can help themselves to fruit when in season) and a gravelled courtyard with Petit d'Albret on one side. The gîte has it's own private terrace looking out to lawns and trees with a wooden dining table and 4 chairs, two reclining sun loungers with cushions and a stainless steel BBQ. Extra dining chairs can be added for guests staying in Le Manoir du Cedre. It's sister gite, Les Vignes, is situated on the opposite side of the courtyard and has its own private terraces and BBQ. The owner's house is at the far end. A feature in the central courtyard is the raised central fountain with gold fish (unfenced).
Situated in a secluded position in the grounds is the enclosed and gated 10m x 5m swimming pool with
roman style steps and a depth of 1m to 2.1m. The pool is surrounded by a fenced terrace and has ten sun loungers and some small tables. There is a selection of pool play items available. This pool is surrounded by lawns and fields and reached by a slight grassy incline.
Guests are welcome to use the swinging garden seat, a shady hammock, table tennis, badminton and
boules set.
The English owner lives in the Manoir. She has her own private garden and does not use the pool
when guests are in residence. |
